Liberation Through SightThis amulet features two mantras of Avalokiteśvara--oṁ padmoṣṇīṣa vimale hūṁ phaṭ and oṁ hanu bhaśa bhara hridaya svāhā—calligraphed by Garchen Rinpoché’s father. According to the Kūtāgāra Sūtra, the misdeeds of a thousand aeons will be purified for those whose heads pass once beneath the first mantra. In the Forceful Waterfall Sūtra it is said that seeing the second mantra one time will purify the evil deeds of three hundred million aeons. A history of the amulet can be found here. it is said that seeing the second mantra one time will purify the evil deeds of three hundred million aeons. A history of the amulet can be found here.

Liberation Through ContactThis amulet is of the maṇi mantra combined with the syllables that liberate through physical contact: a, ah, śa, sa, ma, ha. At Lama Garchen Rinpoché’s instruction, Ari-ma redesigned the icon in 2015 so that the maṇi syllables are arranged to represent a clockwise rotation. This supersedes earlier versions, in which the syllables face inwards.
